Columbus range

Columbus series offers 14 models of shell tents wholly realized in fibreglass with accurate manual techniques that guarantee that these are top quality articles. They can have different dimensions, volumes and internal capacity; some models also allow supplementary bars to be fixed onto the shell in order to transport surfs, kayaks and accessories.

Three available widths: Small for 2 adults, Medium for 2 adults and 1 child, Large for 2 adults and 2 children.

Upon request, Columbus Variant Small and Medium series can offer longer versions:
X-Long (L=230 cm).

The opening of shells is automatic by two gas springs perfectly positioned, dimensioned
and suitable for any extreme environmental temperature and condition.

Gas springs are equipped with two safety blocks that assure the shell’s stability –as well
as the tent’s one- in case of need and also in case of strong wind. Shells have the same shape and design, a fluid, smooth and aerodynamic line and are aesthetically perfect also on small vehicles.

Fabric

Columbus series utilises l’AIR-TEX, a high level fabric produced in Germany, realized by
a big company producing over 50 millions by 600 employees in three different sites. It is a highly waterproof fabric with a degree of water vapour transmission equal to g/m2/24hrs. Its special composition prevents it from cutting and drying even in winter and with low temperatures. It needs no softening intervention, in that it is already soft, each seaming
is resistant and its overall dimensions are minimum. The holes created by the needle are and remain almost invisible and they are easily obstructed by sewing yarn, which represents another important element of widely tested high technology.

Ventilated roof

A ventilated garret in top quality attics is the element that inspired Autohome staff for the realization of this project. Columbus presents an internal false ceiling that allows to obtain an airgap which assures a higher thermal and acoustic insulation for a healthier and quieter place to stay in case of rain. This feature is present in the whole line of Autohome shell tents.

Autohome products are certified by Tüv Rheinland. All its articles are extremely strong, comfortable and elegant and they passed the most serious tests in conformity with international and several other regulations. A prestigious acknowledgement that confirms,

As it is open, it is characterized by only one rear panel, perfectly stable and solid as to the base and an anticondensation intake (except for Large model that is equipped with a back window as standard equipment). On its sides there are two window-doors with an arched zip to obtain partial openings. It is equipped with mosquito nets on every opening.

Columbus Variant series >>

As the above-mentioned model, but with more accessories. It is equipped with a comfortable internal net/hammock, Led movable light (12 volt) and a big opening on the back that allows to customize comfort and privacy. All the openings with mosquito nets are positioned on the walls with no projection, no supplementary cloths or nuisance protection caps that could cause instability in case of wind; this shall be considered also for the fact that the tent is normally positioned at about 2 meters from the ground. The whole tent and its components are windproof and anti-shock; no fabric, roofing element or any other element can cause a “sailing” effect or sleepless nights due to breeze or strong wind.

Columbus Carbon Fiber series >>

Identical to Variant model but with shells made of carbon fibre, is the lightest series of the whole range. It is the model preferred by Land Rover Experience Germany.
